ERROR: Fetching Feed From HTTP Server Failed

You are likely to receive the 504 error code when you have lots of products and lots of variants in your store. To resolve this issue, we have to limit the size of the a single feed by using feed pagination.

With feed pagination, it will split up your store's items into multiple feeds. You can then add those feeds to the Facebook product catalog where they will be combined into a single product set.

To use feed pagination, you will need to set two parameters in your RSS product feed.

1) Limit - the number of Shopify products per feed page (default is 250) but you can go up to 10,000

2) Page - the feed page number

To add the parameters:

  1. Log in to Pixel Bay
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Copy the RSS Feed
  4. Paste the RSS Feed into a new browser. At the top, you will see the following:

<!--Current Page:--> By default, the RSS feed will be on page 1.

<!--Items On Current Page:--> Number of products on the page.

<!--Per Page:--> Default maximum number of products including variants per page, which is 250. However you can set this, to a maximum of 10,000 products per page.

<!--Total Pages:--> Total number of pages

<!--Total Items:--> Total number of products including variants in your store.

By knowing how many "Total Items" you have in you store, you will know how to set your "page" and "limit" parameters.

For Example: Your store has 70,000 products. You can split your RSS feed into 7 pages with 10,000 products per page. In this case, you will have to do to add the following " ?limit=10000&page=1" to the end of your RSS Feed URL.

  5. Log in to your Facebook Business Manager
  6. Click "Product Catalogs" from the top navigation menu.
  7. Create a Product Catalog. Enter a Catalog Name, Choose Catalog Type, And click "Create Catalog".

  8. Click on the blue "Add Product Feed" button.

  9. Enter in the Feed Name, Select Currency, and Upload Type. We recommend choosing "Scheduled Recurring Uploads". Then click "Next".

  10. Set a Schedule for the Uploads. We recommend choosing "Daily".
  11. For the Feed URL, enter in your first RSS Feed. Using the same example above, you'll enter in:
  12. Click "Create Feed".
  13. Then at the top menu, click on "Product Feeds". Repeat steps 8 to 12 again until you have added all the product feed URL in your product catalog.
